More Than Predictions: Why I Believe Astrology and Tarot Can Help Us Understand Ourselves

There are moments in life when we don’t necessarily need someone to tell us what to do. We simply need a little clarity.

Sometimes it is a question about a relationship. Sometimes it is a career decision. Sometimes it is a feeling we cannot quite put into words. And sometimes, it is something as simple as wondering, “Am I looking at this situation the right way?”

This is where my journey with Tarot, Astrology and Vedic Numerology has become deeply meaningful to me.

I have never looked at these practices as a way of frightening people with predictions or telling them that their future is already written. I see them as tools that can help us pause, reflect and understand ourselves a little better. And perhaps that is why I find them so fascinating.

My Relationship with These Ancient Practices

When I work with a person, I am not just looking at a chart or laying out a set of cards. I am listening to a person and the question behind the question.

Because very often, the question someone asks is not really the question they are struggling with.

Someone may come asking, “Will this relationship work?” But underneath that question might be, “Why am I feeling so uncertain?”

Someone may ask, “Will I get this job?” But perhaps what they really need to understand is, “Why have I lost confidence in myself?”

And sometimes a person doesn’t even have a specific question. They simply feel stuck.

That is where I believe these practices can create a meaningful space for reflection.

Tarot Is Not Just About the Future

One of the biggest misconceptions about Tarot is that the cards are simply there to predict what will happen next.

For me, Tarot is much more than that.

I see the cards as a tool of guidance. They can help us look at a situation from a perspective we may not have considered before. They can bring our attention to our emotions, our behaviour, our fears, our choices and the possibilities in front of us.

And this guidance does not have to be reserved for huge life decisions.

Even the small events of everyday life can leave us confused—a conversation that didn’t go the way we expected, a decision we keep postponing, a relationship that feels different lately, a new opportunity that excites us but also scares us, or a phase where we simply don’t know what our next step should be. Sometimes, a Tarot reading can help us slow down enough to ask ourselves the right questions.

That, to me, is where the real value lies.

The cards don’t make the decision for us. We do.

The cards can simply help us look at the situation with a little more awareness.

Astrology: Understanding the Person Behind the Question

If Tarot helps me explore the present situation, Astrology gives me another fascinating lens through which to understand a person.

Our birth chart is a map created from the positions of the planets at the time of our birth. I find it fascinating because it can help us explore different aspects of ourselves—our personality, tendencies, emotional patterns, strengths, challenges and the areas of life where we may experience growth.

There are times when we know we behave a certain way but don’t understand why.

Why do I overthink?

Why do I need so much reassurance?

Why do I feel most comfortable when I am independent?

Why do I keep repeating a certain pattern?

Why does one environment bring out the best in me while another completely drains me?

Astrology can give us a language to explore these questions.

For me, the planets are not about taking away our free will. They are not an excuse for our choices, nor should Astrology make someone feel that their life is completely predetermined.

Instead, I believe Astrology can help us become more conscious of the energies and patterns in our lives.

Once we understand ourselves better, we can make better choices.

And that is much more empowering than simply being told what our future will look like.

Why Ordinary People Can Find Value in It

You don’t have to be deeply spiritual or know anything about Astrology or Tarot to find value in them.

You can simply be a person trying to navigate life.

We all experience uncertainty. We all have moments when we question ourselves. We all go through changes in relationships, careers, family, finances, confidence and identity.

And in those moments, having a different perspective can sometimes be incredibly valuable.

I have seen how people often arrive with a lot of thoughts in their minds, but once they begin talking, those thoughts start becoming clearer.

Sometimes they don’t need a dramatic prediction. They need permission to acknowledge what they already feel.

Sometimes they need to see a possibility they had overlooked.

Sometimes they need reassurance.

And sometimes, they simply need someone to listen without judgement.

That human element is something I value deeply in my work.

Tarot, Astrology and Numerology — Three Different Lenses

I also work with Vedic Numerology, and I find the combination of these practices particularly interesting.

Each one offers a different perspective.

Astrology allows us to explore ourselves through the planetary influences present in our birth chart.

Numerology explores the significance of numbers connected with our lives and can offer another perspective on our personality and life patterns.

Tarot brings us into the present moment and allows us to explore the energy and circumstances surrounding a particular question.

I don’t believe one needs to choose between them as if one is “better” than the other.

For me, they are different lenses through which we can look at the same human experience.

And ultimately, the purpose is not simply to know more.

It is to understand more.

Guidance Should Never Become Fear

This is something I feel strongly about.

Spiritual practices should empower people, not make them afraid.

I don’t believe anyone should be made to feel that they cannot make a decision without consulting a card, or that something terrible will happen because of a particular planetary position.

Life is far too complex to be reduced to one card, one number or one planetary placement.

Our choices matter.

Our actions matter.

Our awareness matters.

And our ability to grow matters.

I want people who come for a reading to leave with more clarity—not more fear.

If a reading helps someone understand themselves, look at a situation differently, recognise a pattern or simply feel more confident about taking their next step, then I believe the reading has served its purpose.

What I Really Hope to Give People

My work through Mira’s Cosmic is ultimately about creating a space where people can pause.

We spend so much of our lives constantly moving—from one responsibility to another, one notification to another, one decision to another.

We rarely stop and ask ourselves:

“How am I actually feeling?”

“What do I really want?”

“What pattern am I repeating?”

“What am I afraid of?”

“What am I ready to let go of?”

Perhaps this is one reason Astrology and Tarot continue to remain relevant even in such a modern world. Technology can give us information in seconds. But information and clarity are not always the same thing.

Sometimes, clarity comes from looking inward. That is what these practices mean to me.

Not a fixed future. Not fear. Not a promise that every question has a predetermined answer. But a different way of looking at ourselves.

A little guidance when we feel lost.

A little perspective when our emotions are clouding our judgement.

And sometimes, simply a reminder that the answers we are searching for outside ourselves may already be waiting somewhere within.

I don’t believe Tarot and Astrology should tell you how to live your life.

I believe they can help you understand yourself well enough to choose how you want to live it.

And that, for me, is where the real magic begins.
