Above is the theme of this year’s International Youth Day.
International Youth Day (IYD) is annually observed on 12th August.
The United Nations Assembly decided to conduct a youth day every year. The main purpose is to draw attention towards the cultural or legal issues surrounding the youth.

The basic idea behind celebrating this day was to encourage the youth of the world to contribute for the well being of the world. This year it encourages the leading role of young people in eradication of poverty and sustainable production and consumption in our communities.

Sustainable consumption is very crucial. It entails the uses of the services and products that meet the basic needs of the current population as well as the future generations. The main aim is to reduce waste and pollution and change the choices that people make in everyday life and make those choices more eco – friendly.
So let’s all of us support this day and do our best to achieve that “Road to 2030”. Also, encourage other people to do the same. Living a green life, meaning a very eco – efficient life, is not that hard to practise and giving a chance for the future generation to live in this world with the natural resources is our responsibility.
