The alumni of Aligarh Muslim University, based in the United Arab Emirates, will be celebrating the birth anniversary of its founder, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, on December 17 at Lou’Lou’A Beach Resort, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The date coincides with the inauguration day of the university.
The college, known in Urdu as the Madarsatul Uloom, was renamed Aligarh Muslim University in 1920 and is one of the top universities in India, with three off-campus centres and one on the university’s campus. The birth anniversary of its founder, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, popularly known as “SS Day” is celebrated with due fervour and enthusiasm across the globe by its alumni.
The chief guest will be His Excellency Faisal Abdulla Al Gurg, Chairman of Al Gurg Consultants, and many educationalists and dignitaries from India have been invited as guests of honor. The event will also be attended by senior alumni and successful entrepreneurs currently based in the UAE.
“It is our humble tribute to Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, an outstanding stalwart, a true son of India, who did more than anybody else for the social and educational advancement of the community in the 19th century,” said one of the senior alumni.
The highlights of the event are talks and panel discussions on the Aligarh Movement, a short play and cultural activities, a robotics workshop for children, followed by the famous tarana of the university, and the gala dinner.
Many AMU alumni took to various social media platforms to pay tribute to Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. “We have gotten overwhelming responses from the alumni and congratulatory messages from different parts of the world and are looking forward to making this event as successful as possible,” said one of the main organizers of the event and a member of the AMU Alumni UAE.
