A Celebration of India’s Soul through Folk and Tribal Art

Organized by Indian Folk Art Corridor & Vidisha’s Creations

The Indian Folk Art Corridor, under the visionary leadership of artist and curator Vidisha Pandey, successfully organized “Swadesh” — a grand celebration of India’s rich folk and tribal art heritage. The event beautifully captured the spirit of India through traditional paintings, crafts, and live art demonstrations, creating a bridge between age-old traditions and contemporary appreciation.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Bijender Singh, Head of Chancery & Consul (Protocol, Welfare, RTI & Culture), Consulate General of India, Dubai. The event was further graced by Indian film actress Ms. Kalpana Iyer as the special guest.

Held in the UAE, Swadesh brought together talented artists, art lovers, and cultural enthusiasts on one vibrant platform. The exhibition showcased the diversity of India’s cultural legacy — from Madhubani and Pichwai to Warli, Gond, Sohrai, and Tholu Bommalata art forms — each narrating timeless tales of devotion, identity, and tradition.

The event was further illuminated by the presence of distinguished personalities including Shri Anjini Prakash Laitu, Atul Panase, Ms. Sultana Kazim, Ms. Kusum Dutta, Mr. Peter, Sugat Priyadarshi, Ms. Laila, Ms. Nada, and Mr. Yusuf Muhammad, making Swadesh an evening to remember.

In addition to the exhibition, Swadesh featured live workshops and interactive art sessions, offering visitors an immersive experience of India’s cultural depth. The event received overwhelming appreciation for its commitment to promoting Indian folk traditions and connecting them with a global audience.

Expressing her gratitude, Vidisha Pandey, Founder of the Indian Folk Art Corridor and Vidisha’s Creations, shared:

> “Swadesh is not just an art event; it is an emotion that connects us to our roots. My vision is to take Indian folk and tribal art to every corner of the world.”

Following her successful collaborations with The Nehru Centre London, IIT Mumbai, and other esteemed institutions, Vidisha continues to spearhead a movement that brings global recognition to Indian artists and their heritage.

All participating artists walked hand in hand with Vidisha ji, sharing her mission to preserve and promote Indian folk art on the world stage. Together, they presented a vibrant mosaic of India’s diverse states and traditions.

Participating Artists

Pari Sagar, Shoma Banerjee, Chandralekha Dubey, Deepti Tripathi, Neema Rajesh, Sandhya Iyer, Vasanthi Kannan, Minakshi Karn, Radha Bhatia, Pratibha Sabria, Renuka Bharti, Vidya Ayyaswamy, Fatima Khan, Neha Agrawal, Tanu Sanchiti, Ankita Singhani, Sonali Pathi, Sharvari Kulkarni, Sugandha Santosh, Jigna Parekh, Poonam Chaturvedi, Varsha Khatri, Subbalakshmi Natarajan, Arya Devkumar, Deepa Bhargava, Shilpa Gupta, Vinita Pandey, Mudita Rastogi, Dhruti Shah, Ruchita Shah, Minakshi Pattnaik, and Suman Mehta.

As always, the event proudly included the participation of children of determination, who showcased their beautiful handmade creations — a heartfelt reminder that art transcends all boundaries and abilities.

A particularly touching highlight of Swadesh was the participation of an inspiring mother-daughter duo, Ruchita and Dhruti, whose shared passion for Indian art exemplifies how creativity can connect generations. What began as the daughter’s love for art became a beautiful journey that inspired her mother to join in — both now standing as proud representatives of India’s artistic heritage.

The success of SWADESH would not have been complete without the contribution of volunteer artists Mankush and Boski, whose dedication and efforts added immense value to the event.

Special thanks to Mohit Sadhbani, Krrish Kumar, Dania, and Kritika for their invaluable support behind the scenes.

A heartfelt acknowledgment to Pari Sagar, Global Head of Be Attractive Online E-Magazine, for her continued encouragement and contribution toward spreading artistic awareness and positivity across platforms.

With initiatives like Swadesh, Vidisha Pandey and the Indian Folk Art Corridor continue their mission to promote and preserve India’s folk and tribal arts, ensuring that this cultural legacy grows stronger with each passing year.
