The catwalks spoke and as always, everyone’s trying the trends not only with their clothes – but their makeup looks too. Want in? Whether you’re feeling this season’s spooky beauty vibes or fancy trying some razzle dazzle, get inspired by these catwalk examples that are perfect for copycatting.
Dark and delicious lips
Go for gloth (glam-goth!) this season with an intense palette. At the Giles AW15 show models wore slick black lipstick that looked super-striking and paired with warm bronzer it didn’t wash them out. A touch softer was the blackberry lip at Emanuel Ungaro (left), which, as this model proves looks stunning on blondes. Still too much? Oxblood red, as seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim (right), is a beautiful alternative. Sunglasses optional!
Bold, statement liner – and eye shadow – was all over the runways. ‘Bambi eyes’ took on a new form at Rochas (left) where the models’ upper and lower eyelids were painted with floating black liner. Elsewhere at Paco Rabanne oversized eyeliner dominated the face and at House of Holland models sported jagged stripes across the eyelids! If that’s a bit out-there for you, make your smoky eyes more artsy and try the wings of shadow seen at Chanel (right).
Sparkly makeup had a makeover this season. At Rodarte (left) the trend for ‘crystal underliner’ was set (try it with a strip of Swarovski-style crystals), while at Temperley (right) the upper eyelids were decorated with shimmering sequins in shades of blue and rose GOLD. If you’re looking for a cool stand-out look for party season, this is it.
The winter tan
Why should faking it be the stuff of summer? Get your winter tan on a la Moschino (left) who showcased sunbaked-bronze makeup. Models at Dsquared2 (right) nailed it with an exaggerated look, thanks to bronzer applied where the sun would naturally catch the face. If you want to wear minimal makeup and look super-sexy, this is how.
Rusty orange shades
From apricot to rust, the surprising hue hit of the season was orange. Look to Herve Leger By Max Azria and Emilio Pucci (above) for model examples and get to grips with this eye shadow shade. To avoid looking like you have tired (or bruised) eyes, keep your complexion looking polished and layer on plenty of black mascara.
